Maskit Mansion (“Ahuzat Maskit”) is a boutique hotel, but the word “mansion” describes it in the best way – an isolated location that provides perfect intimacy, surrounded by a peaceful green landscape filled with citrus orchards, and an atmosphere that resembles a mansion in Tuscany or France. This is a beautiful, prestigious and romantic hotel, which can be an excellent start for a trip in the northern part of Israel. Two of the most beautiful beaches in Israel- Achziv National Park and the Rosh Hanikra grottoes are just minutes away from the hotel. Usually, as you may know by now, I’m a huge fan of traveling and hiking- but from the minute I stepped into this gorgeous hotel all I wanted is to stay in.
So, what makes this place so amazing?
From the moment the gate of the large estate slowly opens, and the car enters the driveway on the path surrounded by citrus trees, you begin to feel the magic of this place. From the parking lot, you pass through a gate made of climbing plants that go towards the lobby, and you can see the luxurious mosaic pool in its full glory.
The hostess who greeted us (Did I mention how luxurious this place is?) gave us a tour of the tastefully designed lounge area (I’m still trying to figure out why my living room doesn’t look like that…?). Then she took us to the heated indoor pool that pictures can convey only a small part of its beauty, the spa rooms and the outdoor pool I wish I’ll never have to leave.
I honestly thought that the pool was the highlight of the tour- but oh, I was so naive.
The best of the best, crème de la crème of the tour was our suite: Villa #2 – one of the four villas that the hotel offers. We entered the villa and walked into one of the most beautiful suites in Israel: a spacious room designed in a unique and luxurious style, and there is no doubt that much thought and attention has been paid to the small details.
I’ve been to a lot of beautiful and special hotels, but eventually I find myself bumming out because there is something missing (whether it’s another towel, a bottle opener or a wall socket by the bed). In Maskit it just didn’t happen, every detail of the room seems to have been carefully chosen (and trust me, I pay close attention to EVERY detail) – from the pictures on the wall to the decorations on the table. The bed is huge and welcoming, and just above it, there is a wide window overlooking the tropical garden outside.
The room is equipped with a coffee machine, a mini bar, a wine refrigerator and a huge TV with a full entertainment system facing the corner of the living room that, wait for it, can also be turned towards the bed (is there ANYTHING they didn’t think about?). The showerhead is about three times as big as my head, and the robes are soft and cozy. In case it’s cold outside, you can also enjoy the underfloor heating and towel warmers.
The overall feeling in the suite reminds me of a luxurious vacation in the far east, and another good example of that is in the backyard- from the bathroom, there is a door leading outside to an amazing outdoor shower that flies me back to Bali, without having to get on a plane. The villa is surrounded by a large, fenced-in private courtyard, where there is a relaxing seating area which is definitely the perfect location for a good glass of wine.
Breakfast can be served in the beautiful lounge, in the seating area of your villa or at one of the tables right by the pool. Of course, I chose the third option! The meal was varied, tasty and special, and it varies day by day depending on the season and spice plants available in the hotel’s spice garden. At first, we were served with sweet mueslis, followed by countless fresh salads, home-made spreads like a labaneh cheese with tomato salad, cream cheese with chopped pistachios, fresh sourdough bread and eggs of your choice. The freshness and flavors of Galilean cuisine were felt in every bite!
After breakfast, we sat by the outdoor pool, and throughout our stay there we were offered ice cream, wine glasses, fruits and a variety of treats. (now you understand why I didn’t want to leave?)
So, if you dream of a beautiful and romantic hotel that will allow you to have a peaceful break from everyday hassle, with a luxurious and intimate villa, spectacular pools, a spa, good food and a great location for hiking in the Galilee area, I highly recommend choosing the Maskit Suits and Spa. The only thing you’ll regret is that your vacation should have been longer!
