Rome, Italy

Had an amazing 4 days vacation in Rome and fell in love with this city (and its food!!!). So here are some recommendations:

Day 1

We arrived to the Hotel Cosmopolita around 14:00, and the hotel has one of the best locations, a walking distance from any important site in the city. In the afternoon we took an amazing foodies tour around Plaza Espana- the beautiful Spanish steps. Our tour guide was named Nati, an Israeli tour guide that organizes culinary tours in Hebrew. The city is known for its amazing food, so I’m sure that there are tons of other food tours in many different language as well.

At the tour we visited a pasta factory called Pastificio Guerra‬, a bakery with the best tiramisu in Rome called Pompi, the 200 years old Cafe Greco, a wine bar, a chocolateria, a gelateria, a sandwicheria and a pizzeria. All the food was authentic and amazing.

Day 2

We started our second day in a cafe called L’antico Forno Di Fontana Di Trevi, and had a nice Panini with prosciutto and mozzarella cheese. Then we visited some important touristy sites in the city- Trevi fountain, The Spanish Steps (again), the Pantheon, Piazza Di Pompo and Piazza Navona. The art in this city is so impressive, you can find a fountain or a cathedral in every corner. The old and colorful streets are really fun to explore. We had dinner in a unique trattoria called Trattoria Dal Cavalier Gino (reservations are a must). We took an Italian pasta dish called “cecio e pepe” which was awesome. We also had the spaghetti carbonara and saltimboca- a veal Italian dish. For dessert we had ice cream in Venchi– a very famous gelateria that you can find in many different spots around the city.

Day 3

On our third day in Rome we visited an amazing neighborhood called “Trastevere”, in the other side of the river. The neighborhood is beautiful and unique thanks for its colorful street walls and cute boutiques and restaurants.

We had lunch in a great restaurant called Roma Sparita, which known for the Cecio e Pepe served in a bowl made of parmesan cheese (Yup. the bowl is edible.) We had it as our main course, and as an appetizer we had prosciutto with mozzarella cheese. Than we went back to our beloved gelateria- Venchi, and ate the perfect nougat crepe.
